Not Ordinary, Not Obvious

Our name, NONO, embodies our commitment to transcend the ordinary and avoid the obvious. Founded in Mexico City in 2011 by designer Joel Escalona, we began as a small studio with a bold vision: to reshape the landscape of furniture design through innovation and craftsmanship.

Over the years, NONO has grown from a local design house into an internationally recognized brand. Our journey is marked by a dedication to pushing boundaries and exploring new frontiers in design. We seamlessly blend cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship—utilizing advanced techniques in concept creation and production while honoring the skilled hands that meticulously finish each piece. This harmonious fusion ensures that human creativity and touch remain at the heart of every creation, infusing our furniture with warmth and soul.

The Visionary Behind NONO

At the core of our history is Joel Escalona, whose passion for blending art and function drives NONO's creative direction. Joel believes in the power of objects to evoke emotion and tell stories. His embrace of imperfection and organic forms reflects the unpredictability and beauty of the natural world, giving each piece a unique presence.

"True beauty is found in imperfection;
unexpected forms tell the most complete stories."

We believe our creations should enrich the spaces they inhabit, exuding understated elegance and sophistication while celebrating the impermanent and the incomplete.

Philosophy

At NONO, we believe that creativity stems from the sensory experiences of everyday life. We transform ordinary beauty—shapes, colors, textures, and a diversity of materials—into extraordinary designs that surprise and delight.

Our creations are characterized by their communicative power and conviction. Being part of the NONO team means embracing a comprehensive perspective that values the manifold expressions of beauty, celebrating the impermanent and the incomplete.

We are passionate about crafting our own language in each of our designs. We are confident that our pieces will not go unnoticed due to the narratives and emotions that unfold within them.

Our high-quality standards are based on the use of first-class materials and rigorous attention to detail, building lasting relationships between our customers and our creations. Each piece is meticulously crafted by skilled artisans and designers in Mexico City, ensuring that human creativity and touch remain at the heart of every creation.

Our philosophy is simple: we craft comfort in every shape, transforming spaces into personal universes through extraordinary pieces of furniture.

Joel Escalona

Born in 1986 and based in Mexico, Joel Escalona’s work explores the power of objects to transcend their function. Focusing on the abstraction of form and sensation, his creations are designed to evoke the nuances of sensation—the subtle shifts and shades of feeling that often go unnoticed in the rush of everyday life. His work invites both subtle and profound experiences of tranquility, serenity, and sometimes, tension.

"Objects are more than functional—they are reflections of emotion, moments of presence."

Joel finds beauty in imperfection. For him, perfection is not about flawless symmetry or rigid structure, but the natural uniqueness found in incomplete, organic forms. "True beauty lies in the spaces between perfection and imperfection." His designs embrace organic forms that reflect the natural world and the unpredictability of life, giving each piece its own unique presence.
